The Announcement

I wonder is it too lame to yell "I'm baaaack!!" fot the opening for this post,  remembering its been almost A YEAR after my last post.. Naaah..what the hell, I'M BAAAAAACK..!!! ;)

In this mid June, I made a small giveaway contest for all draoupads's friend (in facebook). I asked them to tell me TWO of their favorite draoupads collections or items, and TWO of the items they wish draoupads would produce (wether it is a thing we haven't produce yet, or things we've already produce but it is sooooo good they think we should produce it again ;P. There will be TWO winner (do you see a pattern? ;P ) whom each of them will get a pair of this beautiful hand dyed pallazo pants from, draoupads off course (duh).

I know I promise to announce the winners at June 16th, but forgive my lack of focus and resource, last couple of week had been a great chaos in my studio, and I have no time to draw nor announce the winner. 

So, here it is THE announcement! Drum roll please!!!

 Some snaps from Draoupads booth in Kedai Kebun event; Kios Kaos. Held from September 1st till 27 October 2013 in Yogyakarta.

 

Its pretty obvious about my color pallette, yep black and pink! With a little dash of red and some blue. I did some experiment involving bleach and my latest obsession: Fabric paint!! Its incredible how much we can do with it! No doubt, I'm going to use it more in draoupads next collection. I'm still crazy about splatter and this 'painter washcloth' kinda look' hahhaa.. (I can't figure any terms that can explain it better).

Found this very beautiful old pictures in my house. Apparently it was shot by my brother in law, on one of his trip to Bromo, the pictures actually taken to be given to my sister, they were still boyfriend and girlfriend at the time. I know.. aaaaww...

Rorschach

A Saturday experiment

As a person who spend most of her time dealing in collaborating colors, it is quite funny to realize that on my daily life I don't really get into colors. My closet are fulled with monochrome colors, black, white, grey, salem, and all the boring colors. So when I know that my latest dyeing design on the clutch I've been recently  publish on the facebook page actually get pretty much fans, I'm quite thrilled. 

So I decided to did more motives experiment on black and white colors. I never had the test, but for a long time I always think that the Rorschach ink blot test patterns are beautiful, and then I saw this, and I think why don't I try it as a dyeing motives? And I have this rejected black canvas that I accidentally cut it (the white spot you see on the third picture are a hard fabric, so there's nothing wrong with the editing, ha) And voila! Here come the first result!! Me likey. So save room in your closet, for the Rorschach clutch, bags, or even shawl!

My first experience on dyeing with coffee! 

On the last art market I participate in, I have to make one product that was inspired by coffee. So suddenly I was thinking about dyeing one of my product with coffee. I was pretty surprised to see a lot of tutorial on dyeing fabric using coffee in the internet. So with no doubt, I start to collect the kit and start the experiment.

I use this tutorial for the experiment, allthought I use my use my own measurement. I use more coffee and more time to soak the fabric. The end result is as what I already expected were not too bold, but it gives some rustic feeling and to be add the incredible coffee aroma that soak after it. The tutorial said you can soak it into soap or laundry it to wash away the aroma, but what's the use on dyeing with coffee if you don't get the smell?!!

PS: I finally made tote bags from the fabrics, the product will be on sale in draoupads's facebook page next week! So be prepare, and I hope you like it.

Kopling;The Opening

Ha! I knoow... its waaaay to late to post this, better late than never..I think..;P. There you go, some snaps from Kopi Keliling Opening Art Market!

Blaah.. I don't really have much time to take shoots and paying attention on the result, so very sorry for the poor quality, just think it as a deliberately art form! (yah rite)

 - One of the display, I don't know, at the time I suddenly really get into feathers.. so I decorate my stand mostly with feathers

- My boho chic/feathery/hasteful stand.. On the end of the show, I get really frustrated with the hanger, its broken because of loosing some of its bolts (I forgot to bring it from the studio, stupid)

- The hanging decoration I made all night. Hhahahaa.. some of my friend says I suppose to sell this too

- Again, one of my display look, with feathers and coffee bean

- Some of other crafter display, there are still a lot of them actually, but I can't manage to shoot them all, simply because I have to stay in my stand for almost the whole show

- Again, some cool craft, I am sadly had not much time to take a look more

- Beside the art market, there are some music and art performance from many artists, and off course the climax are from everybody's favorite pupet theather; THE Papermoon Pupet Theater! :)

Ngawi

Several weeks ago, my friend Anggi took me to her father's place in Ngawi. Before the journey, she talks a lot about the place, telling how beautiful it is. I was pretty excited, but I won't lie.. at first its all about the train trip.. I mean who doesn't like train??! I know how it is oftenly late, or sometimes you have to be extra careful with your bags and stuff, but, come on..every modes of transportation always needs extra precaution. right?..riight?.. yah. Well for me, train is always the first option. There's always something about this nostalgic and romantic feeling in it.. and sometimes you ended up being so melancholic, and can't  not thinking about your life and your goal for happiness and,  jeez..what have I done with my life...

So we arrive, and its no longer about the train (duh), the place is indeed beautiful. It feels like I'm going to my uncle's or grandma's house, you know like the song.. Its a very soothing and relaxing place, the kinda place where you just stop yourself for being stressed out or worried about work, or carrier, or meetings, or gas price, or  have you locked your house, have you turn of the stove, have you unplug the electricity.. I'm blabing again right?..yeeeah.

It's a great place, great people, and I've met this super size angel called Lanang, hahaa.. he is Anggi's little step-brother. He ask (and a bit force) us, to come with him catch some (very) little fish. And while we walk, he'd be like "I think this is the right place! Okay stop! Come on, you guys are so slow! Here, take this!" and we're just "Okay..." I think I'm a little scared.. In the end, we call him 'Big Boss'.  Oh, and Anggi's step-mother cook us some insanely delicious food, I was totally in heaven. Its definitely a beautiful time, too bad I can't stay long there. But hey, its only 3 hours travel (not to mention by train, yiay..). I hope I can go there again soon. There are a lot of place I haven't visited there yet . So be prepared for more posting about Ngawi!
